It's gonna be an interesting trip haven't been home in a very long time. It's been forever since I flied so it could be an interesting experience at the airport.
It will be fun crashing at my uncle's place.
My sister place has wall to wall people.

Went to see the dentist and lost half a gram (or whatever a tooth that's half ceramic cap weighs). He got a bit over-enthusiastic with the freezing, too. My ear is still numb.

That is terrible, I've never heard of taking a tooth out through your ear. I bet that did hurt. Canada is very advanced in their dentistry.

Snort. If we are so advanced, why did he pump me with enough local to freeze half my face for one tooth? That took him all of 30 secs to pull (it was that loose).

Freezing is out, jaw aches. Surprise surprise. At least Mrs. Mendalla had something soft planned for dinner even before this (mapo tofu for those who know their Chinese food).

I am picturing taking a tooth our through your ear. It makes for a comical image.

I hope you're feeling better. I have had way too many issues with my teeth, gums, and jaw. I can empathize. Pretty sure my oral surgeon's new car was paid for by my procedures.

It's still hot and everyone is in some sort of mood. I've battled depression for years and it's often exacerbated by weather. Usually the excessive heat and humidity or the cold dark of winter.

I should have anticipated it this year, the weather combined with current circumstances and loss knocked me off my feet. Video visits with my doctor and medication changes hopefully will help.

I hope everyone is having a good week.

I managed to make some lemonade. I'll leave a pitcher and take some cookies with me.

Sara, the idea of having emergency cookie tins is fantastic, thank you.

Cheers Everyone!

Safe travels, Sara! Hugs you and to Gill too. Hope you get your meds tweaked and feel more on an even keel soon. And hugs to Elizabeth, just cos!

Scott, that sounds like dental overkill! Hope the achiness eases soon.

The weather is still gorgeous here and is meant to last for a few more days. Feels like I'm on holiday!

I'll grab a lemon and ginger tea and some of Sara's emergency cookies.

The water is heating up and the coffee is brewing. It is a nice Saturday morning. The countertops are installed along with the new sink and faucet. Monday the handy-man will be by to install the new lighting and do the finishing touches to the counter. The tiles are natural stone tile called Krystal Slate Storm. Here's what it looks like on Menard's site.

https://https://www.menards.com/main/flooring-rugs/tile-stone/porcelain-tile/mohawk-reg-krystal-slate-storm-12-x-12-porcelain-floor-and-wall-tile/ks201212hs1p6/p-1444428430841-c-6557.htm

We used a variation of the 12 x 12, the 12 x 24, and the 6 x 6 sizes.

It's exciting getting it done.

Nice. Not sure it would work in our kitchen without a total redo, but nice.

Mouth is fine but the gap is larger than I expected. However, if I compare to the same tooth on the opposite side, it probably is about right. Just seems like the gap feels bigger than tooth + gaps should. Getting insurance quotes on implants though it's not in a visible spot so I half wonder if it is worth the money.

I am doing a minor edit on Night of the Wind. Nothing major, just realized the quasi-Medieval town in it had the same name as the fictional modern city I use in many stories so decided to rename it now that I have a story in that modern setting on here. I had just kind of used the name (Eversham) as a placeholder when I originally came up with the fantasy story but never bothered to change it, even though I had already been using it in modern, "real world" stories for a while.

Good morning everyone! Nice to catch up on all your news.

Looks like our week-long heatwave, with temperatures just over 20 or 70 degrees is over. It was lovely while it lasted!

I'll grab an Earl Grey tea and some of Sara's emergency cookies.

It's morning out here on the desert -- do you know where your muse went? ;)

My brand-spanking new computer is back complete with a new hard drive. Now to get everything rejiggered and then learn how to muck my way through the new and/or updated programs. Don't know what I did as a child to deserve all this but it must have been very interesting.

As for being depressed, these days that's what passes for 'normal' even if you haven't had a tooth pulled out through one of your ears.

Coffee and cookies are in my immediate future. Later.

Surely Cynthia and Bill have taken care of the coffee and tea situation already. I'll just test the brew and continue with my day.

I know Sara will check in soon to let us know how she is. But we will have to make do with the cookies we have on hand.

I feel that way about mobile devices sometimes. I was 12 or 13 when MS and Apple were incorporated so I kind of grew up with PCs and they are what I am familiar and comfortable with. While I've adapted pretty well to smartphones and tabs, my staff (all millennials) and my son can run rings around me on them. Let's just say I sometimes long for my old Blackberry Bold, still probably my favorite smartphone even after two Samsung Galaxies.

Speaking of electronics, I've been helping Mrs. M get set up on her new tablet (I'll use the old one as an e-reader now). Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. Fairly nice model for the price (c. CDN$450 IIRC) with the latest version of Android already loaded.

Rainy and grey in London today (nice rhythm and rhyme scheme, eh). Good day to sit back with a tea and a book or TV show, I think.

It's a beautiful day in Roanoke VA.
The trip is going good, the funeral was simple and beautiful on Friday. Saturday I spent the day with my sister and her kids and my daughter and her husband and my adorable grandson so it was a good day. Spending the with my uncle and his girlfriend so it's a quiet day here we are gonna do touristy things today.
Today I have sugar cookies for y'all shaped like stars and hearts
*peeks in the cookie jars and tins* holy cow there isn't a crumbs to be found.
*fills the cookie jars to the tippy top *
Hugs y'all stay safe
I'll be flying out bright and early tomorrow morning.

Good morning stories space folks. Time to watch the coffee brew, the water heat up.

Also having our kitchen completed today. Touch-up and the new lighting put in. Electrical work. I hate doing that for myself.

It's going to be lovely.

Won't touch electrical with a 10' pole. Too risky in my books. Even plumbing, I am fairly selective about what I will DIY. Too many bad experiences.

Morning tea time. I've picked up some assorted goodies. Muffins, cinnamon buns, danishes for the breakfast bar. And, of course, there's always Sara's cookies if that's too much for you.

Stopping in for tea and a quick hello. Trying to take care of a bunch of stuff this week so I can focus on my youngest daughter next week. We leave a week from tomorrow to make the 8 hour trek to help her and her bf move into their brand new house. When I hug her 8 days from now it will be the first time in 238 days. (But who's counting...lol).

I hope Monday is treating everyone well!

Lovely hearing from one of our Rays of Sunshine, dear E. Such a bright shining star of the site.

The great-looking chap doing our kitchen will be back one more day this week to do final touch-ups. If I can get my camera to work I will take some pix.

The coffee is perking away and the water is always hot.

It's so good having Sara back home. I know she had a sweet and melancholy time with her family this weekend saying goodbye to her mother.

Walking Victor this morning I had to wear a jacket. The air is getting chilly out. Autumn will be coming next month.

Larry, grateful I am for the setup and for the last of the Danish Scott brought in yesterday. Yeah, it was a bit stiff but still tasty. Of course, Sarah's cookies are the candle on top of the cake

TG, it's great having you over here amongst us. Between Mendalla and Larry, ((btw, probably a good place for you to avoid) the coffee is always hot and usually drinkable while the kettle is full of the finest hot aqua in these parts..

All that talk has done gone and flung a cravin' on me. Think I'll grab some of that coffee and a handful of cookies and go sit under the Western Auto window air conditioner.

Later, y'all.

Think I'll

We are just making arrangements for our son to visit us and pick up one of the cars. My wife doesn't want him using transit when his company goes back to the office and we really only need one right now (she's basically retired though it doesn't become official until January and I am working from home). He was here for April then went back on May 1 so 3 1/2 months.

Lovely day though the weather office is threatening showers. We shall see. I've been finding their forecasts to be a bit off of late.

Kettle is on for tea. Some Japanese wakoucha (black tea) is in the pot.

hello1 HONEYS IM HOMEEEEE!
A large sweet tea sounds good right about now
I got home at 7:30pm last night from my weekend away. It was sweet and melancholy. It was good to see family. It was a busy weekend but it was fun for some of it. Got to see tourist attractions and take pictures.
Got to meet my uncle's girlfriend ..she is nice.
The weekend was filled with yummy food and good drinks.
I made cookies this weekend for the family.
Jet lag is a pain in the butt.
I have cookies today
In Big Bird we have ginger snaps, peanut butter and banana cookies, white chocolate chip cookies and honey drop cookies
In Cookie Monster we have oatmeal raisin cookies ,pecan divines, lemon ginger cookies and lemon cookies
*filling the empty cookie jars to the tippy top *
*giving the adorable mascots fresh water and treats *

I'll probably get some writing done this week. I think today is gonna be a lazy laid-back kind of day.
Y'all stay safe.

Just dropped in to say welcome home Sara. I am pleased that your trip went well. I have only once flown far enough to get jet lag, when I flew to Port Stanley some thirty-five years ago!
Sit back, relax and prepare for your return to normal life tomorrow. 🤗

I have had jet lag many times in varying degrees. Returning from Shanghai is the worst (been there several times to visit my in-laws) but even Europe is no great shakes. In some ways, the 5 or 6 hour, depending on where we are going, lag to Europe bothers me more than the 12 or 13 (depending on whether we are in daylight savings) to China.

Glad your trip home went well, Sara.

Now, about those ginger snaps...* scarfs 3 *

Hello dear friends. It is not starting out great today. Victor and I slept well all night but this morning, about 6;00, I heard him retching. He now has thrown up three times and seems to be lethargic and in some kind of distress. We took him to the vet about 5 minutes from us but they will only see him with an appointment if it is not an emergency. How do I know? My option was to leave him there and they would get to him sometime today or make an appointment for 3:15 this afternoon. That's what we did. He is lying with his head on my lap while I do my computer stuff. As I say, the vet is 5 minutes away if it gets worse. His tummy is making gurgly sounds. I haven't fed him yet this morning. We will see.

Oh, the coffee is made and the tea kettle is on. Enjoy.

Vibes to Victor. Hope it isn't too serious. We actually have a vet ER here I think but I have no pets so I couldn't tell you which animal hospital has it.

Starting on a new story today. It's been dancing around in my head of late so I thought I would get some out to see how it plays. It's set in the same world as Night of the Wind but a different part (different continent) and will have, I hope, a different feel to it. Less fantasy Western, more pulp weird fantasy.

My "Cheers to 10 Years" competition entries to date,

My Temple - A poem (40 words)
The Goddess Dances - Flash fantasy (873 words)
Something - Short Horror (2581 words)
