It isn't as hot here as last week but still muggy. Read the three comp entries and things are definitely starting off well. Sara, I was on a meeting with someone today who actually uses supplemental oxygen to help with her migraines. Ironically (or perhaps not), she's a Respiratory Therapist who manages one of our branches. She's also a Mom whose kids are still not that old, IIRC, so migraines must be hell for her. * helps self to limeade and a monkey * The Goddess Dances - Winner - Cheers to 10 Years Flash The Berry Girl - Third place - Summer Word Bank

Good morning here in the middle of the States. I am working on my first cuppa java from the first pot. Water is hot. I just happened to be looking at the list of badges on our site. I have noted that Gav has added one or two that might be interesting. You might browse through it and see what you think. I am expecting to get the Poet badge soon. I also should have had the Legendary story badge already but it doesn't seem to want to appear. Have fun working on the current competition. They are few and far between so we must make the most of them when they appear.

Got a couple paragraphs on a possible entry scribbled out. Started writing in OneNote for the first time, then realized it doesn't give a way to get a word count so I'll probably have to copy over to Word at some point. Not entirely sure where it goes, yet, but sometimes it is best to let stories show you where to go. Glad to hear your migraine is over, Sara. I get tension headaches quite bad sometimes and I can't picture a headache being worse than that, but apparently migraines are. * shudders * The week draws to a close, so I think shall settle over on the big comfy couch with tea and cookies and a critter or two for company. How you all are? Had some rain yesterday here in the old valley of the sun. Kept temps in the nineties which makes for a nice break from the long string of 100s. The good news is I'm no longer trying to come to terms with my new computer and its load of upgraded an/or new software. The bad news is this relief is due to the thing crashing on me yesterday complete with the fabled 'blue screen of death'. Fortunately, my old computer was waiting in the closet to be rigged up and is now doing like some baseball relief pitcher. There's now a full pot of fresh brewed coffee along with a tea kettle waiting to be of service in a kettle sort of way. The cookie jars are no longer filled to overflowing with Sara's super snacks. Not saying why but y'all ignore the trail of cookie crumbs following me as I stet outside to commune with nature and whatever else might be lurking thereabouts. Later, y'all. You know, Rump, I swear Windows 10 may actually be more prone to the "blue screen of death" (we just call it BSOD, pronounced "bee-sawed", in IT) than 7 & 8 were. I swear I have seen more of them in the past couple years than in all the years I was using Windows 7. Good morning and happy weekend, everyone!! Tea and ... well, tea anyhow. Need to refresh the munchies, I guess. The Goddess Dances - Winner - Cheers to 10 Years Flash The Berry Girl - Third place - Summer Word Bank

For my own computing needs, I've never used anything by Microsoft. I've never seen this BSOD but I do understand. Apple has its own little woes. A true crash I've never experienced at home. Now, I've used IBM mainframes in businesses like an insurance company, an educational institution, and in a bank. They were certainly subject to crashes on a massive scale. So far we are still looking at the first three initial entries into our contest. I'm straining to come up with a good idea. I have a concept but not a story. It will come. Keep entertaining us with your stories of life in Welly, E. I am enjoying it immensely. *HUGS* Great coffee, Bill. I love it.

Maybe a bit too big? This one can do a good sized bowl, enough for probably four or five people while enjoying a video or card game. My family had one of these back when I was a kid. Used it at home for years, then took it to the cottage after we started doing microwave popcorn at home. You could put butter in the top and it would melt and drip down on the corn as it popped. Welcome and a big 'How's by you?' to all who wander in looking for caffine and cookies. Me, I'm all excited at the thought the Men-Man might install a honest-to-goodness popcorn popping machine. :) Ffor the time being, however, this is still a coffee shop and tea sippers sanctuary so I'll get the coffee pot and tea kettle up and doing their thing, then scrounge around for the extra stash of cookies Sara has tucked away for emergencies. (slurp) Dang coffee ain't half-bad if I do say so myself. Later, agitators. OF WAR, AND PEACE, AND MARY BETH: my contest winner, honestFor Whom the Good Tolls an 'RR' and it's short, no kidding[/url]

Morning all! I'm just popping in to catch up with everyone's news! I'm really enjoying the comp entries. :)
Hope migraines and computer woes are easing? It's vaguely sunny here, so I'll get my washing out while I can.
Thanks for the coffee, Bill, and for finding Sara's emergency cookie stash!

Good morning to you. Kettle is on. I'm having a Scottish Breakfast myself but there's plenty of varieties of teas out. The popcorn machine should arrive in a couple days. Amazing what you can find online. First draft done. 600 words and I'm still missing two of the word bank words so second draft will be a heavy revision. Kind of hate to do it since I like where it is at but I don't have another comp idea right now so I kind of have to try to make this one work. Good morning early risers. Nice to see you, Cynthia, Bill, and Scott. Glad to see such a nice pot of coffee is ready to go. I worked on my story for the competition all afternoon yesterday. I should have it completed today for submission. With less than 500 words it should finish up easily. It will be different, that I promise. As always I am not reading the other entries until mine is posted. But it should not be hard to read them all rather quickly.

Good evening all. Great to see that everyone is having a go. They are all very good and great fun too. Scott, that's the joy of small stories. So much to fit into so few words. Good luck everyone, keep 'em coming!

I finally mastered microfiction this past winter (none here, yet, but give me time) so 500 words is not that daunting, really. As mentioned in another thread, now up to fourth draft which is bang on for word count and uses everything in the mandated word banks (both the one for the theme and the shared one). Will likely need some more editing and polishing, but I am now confident that I will have an entry. Just need to get it right. Hmmm. Baseball cookies. A ball and a glove seem like a fitting pair. Good day to one and all. The coffee is ready. Just waiting for it to cool slightly to take a sip. We had rain last night but it did not awaken me. So it feels much more comfortable outside today. Stay safe out there.

The humidity is brutal here and the temp is headed for 31. Showers in the forecast for later in the day which hopefully gives us a break. Read my latest draft and only did a couple tweaks so I think I am on track to post this week. Need more tea. Day is going a bit nutty. The humidity and heat are brutal here as well. It's been over ninety degrees every day since mid-June and the humidity is just as bad. I find it hard to breathe if I try to do too much outside. This weekend was exhausting. We got my son moved out and he and his girlfriend moved into their condo. It is on the second story so everything had to go up a flight of stairs located outside. They had a lot of stuff. I'm not doing much today, my back did not appreciate all that lifting. I'm perusing cookbooks and websites looking for my next culinary experiments. I did manage to make some lemonade. I'll leave an icy cold pitcher on the counter as I liberate a few cookies. The baseball shapes are great. I hope everyone's week is off to a good start. Cheers!

Good morning, all. Windy and wet again here today. Another glorious Irish summer's day! Hey ho. At least we're not suffering heatwaves like many of you.
I'll grab a coffee and some of Sara's cookies. Yum! I'm enjoying catching up with the comp stories on here! :)

Ms Fielding, don't know about you, but I'm beginning to think Atairi might be a keeper, but only if she manages to crank out a bit more enthusiasm. ;) Not sure how it happened, but there's a pot full of steaming coffee and a kettle of hot water just waiting to be of service. Me, I managed to find a few (dozen) Sarah cookies to go with my coffee, so all is jes' fine out here in the desert. Good morning (almost afternoon here, actually). Kettle's on for some tea. Lost one of my staff. He resigned yesterday to take another job. Leaves on August 10 so I'm getting things rolling on a hire already. Comp entry is all ready to go, just need to hit the Publish button. But, me being me, I am going to give it another pass sometime this afternoon. The Goddess Dances - Winner - Cheers to 10 Years Flash The Berry Girl - Third place - Summer Word Bank
