elizabethblack wrote:Sara, I have no idea if you know I have been sneaking in and helping myself to your delicious cookies when no one is watching. I'm getting addicted to all the exciting types. I have been house/dog sitting for quite a few days (will be 11 when they come home Sunday) and it is so nice to just have such peace and quiet - and no chores since it's their house. I should be catching up on all the stories and poems that I am behind on instead of reading a real book! I'm glad you had that very nice Thanksgiving and hope the upcoming Christmas is a good one for such a sweet and lovely friend. You most deserve it.
You are so sweet miss Elizabeth.. I got all the exciting recipes from the book series I love by Joanne Fluke.. She sticks a bunch of recipes in with her mysteries. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving ... Christmas should be fun. Do you have big plans ? House/dog sitting can fun. Enjoy your book

Did someone mention cookies? I'll take a couple or a dozen, please. I hope I can get some time to do some holiday baking. I love making Christmas goodies. Today was a good day. Took the day to check on our boat and visit a park and have lunch and dinner out. I am looking forward to Christmas since all my sons and their significant others will be here. They've promised to do all the cooking. Sounds great to me, they are all good cooks and bakers. I'll just sneak a few cookies to go. Cheers!

I am sad to announce that my Mum passed away tonight. She wasn't sick or in pain but, at 95, she had a good life and was loved to the very end by all that knew her. She has been slowly fading for the past three months so the sadness is eased with a little relief that she is now at peace and with her beloved husband, my dad, who was taken from us thirty-six years ago. He was only 68. I am sure that you will understand if my presence here over the next few days is somewhat scarce but I will be back to normal when everything is settled.

The coffee is brewed. I can't stick around to drink much of it. I'm off to tech week rehearsal starting early today. I hope to be home fairly quickly. My roles are early in the ballet and not much reason to be kept for the whole run today. That will begin tomorrow. Cheers.

Anna, your mother lived through some 'interesting' times and raised, at the very least, one fine daughter. Losing a parent is rough but to have her for so long is a blessing. Thank you all so very much for your kind words of comfort. I do celebrate the time that I was blessed to be with my Mum and that she didn't suffer at all but passed naturally at a time when she was ready. I shall probably be away for the next week, having so much to do and think about but rest assured, you will all still be with me.

Much sympathy to you and all who loved her. My mum was 15 when war broke out and 21 when it ended. She lived in London in those days and, for a while she worked on Tooley Street in the very heart of that great city. For a time she also worked in a factory making parts for Lancaster Bombers. She always spoke of that time with a great fondness and of the friendships she made but never one once mentioned air raids. Either she didn't see any, which I doubt, or they were such a part of her life back then that she didn't think it worth mentioning. She married my Father in 1949 after meeting him through her office work. He also came from London but spent most of the war in Egypt with the Royal Air Force. Sadly, he passed away suddenly, aged just 68 some 36 years ago and now they are together once again.

For some reason, there does not seem to be enough energy around here today. I'm on my second cuppa java. I need to get into gear. Rehearsal later today at 2:00. I should be finished by 5:00 or so.

hi everyone Happy Sunday! *refills the cookie jar with peanut butter and banana cookies. Ginger snaps and chocolate chip crunch cookies * *gives the mascots special treats. It's gloomy and chilly out so that calls for hot chocolate with mini marshmallows. Went and saw my wee little fans and they wanted a Christmas adventure for scamp and I had to make it up as I go..

Happy Monday, everyone!
Sara, I'm sure your young audience were enraptured by a Scamp story made up on the cuff just for them! Lucky children!
Thanks for the treats and I'll grab a coffee while I peruse today's to-do list!

Sara's new Scamp Adventure is posted for everyone's pleasure. The coffee is brewed and having my first cuppa. There is hot water for tea drinkers. I'll stop by my dental surgeon's office this morning for a quick in and out to check for any dental issues. Then I'll stop by some stores for a short shopping trip. I need 9-volt batteries for the smoke alarms. Tonight is the first dress rehearsal for the Nutcracker. I am bringing my own slacks and shirt. The costume lady has a vest and bowtie for me, along with a coat for the street seller scene. We will get out of there around 9:00 perhaps. It's art so we will see.

Finished and home from 11 days of dog/house sitting. Lovely house and lovely dog, but there were two mice seen which made me imagine one getting in bed and running across me at night. That just means I had to tuck the covers tight. And put my head under the covers too. Wish I hadn't seen them. Should have noticed there were mouse traps in various areas. Empty. Now I get to get ready for our ladies Christmas lunch Friday where we have a blind gift exchange. And will have to have a game or two. So I will be researching for something fun. Is there any coffee left? Love a cup with cream only. Everyone enjoy the rest of their day.

There is always coffee ready. We got some special canisters to save the hot coffee for those who stop by for a cuppa. And the water is there for the tea drinkers. I'm listening to a compilation of cartoons from the Loony Tunes era. The cartoons and the music they used. It's fun and brings back so many memories.

Victor is not feeling well this morning. He was not eager to go out for his walk. He finally did his duty but is now cuddled against me acting blue. I'll have to watch him today. The fresh coffee is brewing. I'm waiting for a nice cuppa java soon. Today is a break day. No rehearsal. Tomorrow is final dress and then we begin the performances. I'm not pleased with a device I use as a prop for selling scarves on the street. But, I'll just have to use it as it is.

Hi you two. It is late but had to check in. Hoping Victor has bounced back. It was a first trace of snow on the grass this morning. But sunny and very cold all day. I've been trying to check online to find jokes. Short ones. For our Christmas lunch Friday. A small group of 10 - 12. Oh, I love my girlfriends! Got to go and see if there are some friends that need a post on their profile. Hugs.

Victor seems in good spirits this morning. The weather is not too bad, about 44F/7C degrees out there. Yesterday afternoon his Mommy took him out to the state park and he ran and played off-lease till he was exhausted. The coffee is hot if anyone needs a perk up.
