I'll be in the corner eating a banana and a scone. Today is a cooking day. Thankfully I will have plenty of help. I have a bit of OCD and have everything organized. Everyone has a task of some sort. Christmas Eve with all my kids and their significant others and my parents. Christmas morning breakfast, two sons and girlfriends, my parents, two aunts, and a neighbor. Christmas Dinner, same group plus two friends. I'll enjoy the quiet for now before everyone wakes up. Cheers!

Somehow you became the designated "senior adult" and it all falls upon you, Gill.
Best of luck and I do hope everyone follows through on their tasks. Enjoy.
I'll have a cuppa java as soon as it gets finished brewing.

Well here I am, Christmas Eve, sitting in the Stories Space Coffee House sipping on a mug of really good green tea, about to write about coffee! That's the thing when you are travelling, you leave your fav blend behind and it's not always possible to find it anywhere but home So today I went shopping for coffee, without a clue as to which investment to make. (One's coffee is an investment right?!). Despite it being Chrissy Eve, not a single wise man was in sight, let alone three! ... so was forced to trust my own judgement (dear Lord!). A flash of inspiration .. ok, it's Chrissy, so perhaps divine intervention... caused me to evaluate a multitude of coffees based on the manufacturers' descriptions, the most boring 'reads' imaginable... well all except one. This is what it said .... from the manufacturer
We've got a solid supplier and guarantee this Air Bed Roasted coffee to be fresh and uncut. We're respectable businessmen baby, and we've got a reputation to uphold.
If you're looking for Recommended Daily intake information then you're out of luck. Insomniacs shouldn't touch this at all. Long haul truck drivers on the other hand should double up. Other than that, if you can't sleep at 4am because of our product don't come crying to us. We ain't your mother.
Christmas Morning is the moment of truth! .. didn't those singing Angels say something like that? Wonder if they bought some too? They were up all night!

I don't drink coffee myself but my son is now a bit of an expert so if I had to buy some, I'd hit him for advice. Plus I know a roastery here in town that he used to buy from (well, he picked it and I bought since he didn't have his own credit card yet). Ditto beer. So, I'll have some of that green tea myself. Just back from the Caribbean and not much planned for Christmas. My cousin is hosting Christmas dinner tomorrow and we have a dish to prepare, but it's fairly simple. President's Choice Lemon Thriller (PC is the house brand of a large Canadian grocery chain) is my herbal of choice. Also fond of Lemon Ginger, of which I have a couple brands to choose from. May you all have a Merry Christmas. The Goddess Dances - Winner - Cheers to 10 Years Flash The Berry Girl - Third place - Summer Word Bank

Question for the denizens of this place: Does my story Night of the Wind qualify as a Christmas story? It's an adventure with a happy ending that takes place on the Eve of a major solstice festival during a winter storm. Seems kind of Christmas-y in retrospect. What do you think? It doesn't count as a "Christmas" story. Not to my mind. It is a story that pagans could add to their group of holiday related stories, I would suppose. In addition I am assuming that Jesus, the Christ, was not a person who had existed in your fantasy world. If he had his followers would have deplored this celebration. I would happily call it a "Holiday Season" story, Scott. How about that? Now for another cuppa java. Cheers all.

It's such a lovely day out. In the 50s F, and that is fine with me. Getting some reading done of stories posted by friends. I'm having my first cuppa freshly brewed java. Cheers, all.

I know we're supposed to keep it clean around here (cleaner than the other place, at least) but I'm going to vent for a minute, "Fuck the Grim Reaper." I come back to work to find one of my staff lost his grandfather just months after losing his grandmother. Now the board where I admin (I'm basically both Maggie and Gav with a dash or two of Nicola over there) lost one of its most senior and valued members, who was mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to a good-sized family. She's been struggling with her health this fall so it's not a total surprise but still .... And then add in Ravenpearl here... So, I'll say it again, "Fuck the Grim Reaper." I know intellectually that death is the natural, logical end of things but that doesn't make it any easier when it hits close to home. (Oh, and that caps off a year in which my wife lost both parents, one expected and one not). The Goddess Dances - Winner - Cheers to 10 Years Flash The Berry Girl - Third place - Summer Word Bank

It does no harm to vent one's spleen at such times and helps to release pent up tensions. I am sorry to hear of your lousy year and can only send you my blessings and hope that next year will see more happy times for you.

The first cuppa java is finished. Starting on the next. Doing my morning computer chores. So far I've read two stories in a contest and I'm working on a third. It's good to support friends and neighbors in their work. Cheers all.

I am sorry for your recent losses. The avatar is a nice acknowledgment. I am cooking again in preparation for my father' birthday dinner tomorrow and the onslaught of the family again. I love my family but I am tired of all the cooking, cleaning and socializing. I hope everyone is doing well. I'll have a Coke with lots of ice. Cheers Everyone!

Fuzzy, when it comes to being clueless and out of the loop, if I'm not in a class by myself, it sure don't take long to call the roll. That said, in the last few weeks, I've heard nothing about a new contest. That includes any scuttlebutt on the 'Mod Forum'. Maggie and others have indicated that another contest might be a possibility somehow, someday but, to the best of my limited knowledge, there have been no ongoing discussions. BTW, hope you got that kettle of hot water you asked for last year. ;) OF WAR, AND PEACE, AND MARY BETH: my contest winner, honestFor Whom the Good Tolls an 'RR' and it's short, no kidding[/url]

The contest that we had been discussing earlier was the one on another site. I had mentioned I was reading some of the stories. Scott was planning to read some over the weekend. I'm ready for a fresh cuppa java. The sun is shining brightly, but the temperatures are below thirty.

Early evening here and cold and dark. A lemon and ginger tea would do nicely. ☕ Really appreciating all the feedback on my story!

Coffee, please. I plan on staring into it for a while and ruminating on my life. If I don't speak, it's because I'm lost in thought. I know where I've been and I know where I am. It's where I'm going that befuddles me at the moment.

The morning coffee has brewed and I am working on my first cuppa java. It's still rather hot.
Not a lot going on around here right now. I got a CT scan yesterday. Perhaps I'll have the results on Monday.
Cheers, all.
