This is the end, my reading friends, of...

Dancing to Ray Charles, a coming-of-age series set in a small, southern town in the summer of 1968. It focuses on a 'nice' guy, the beautiful lifelong best friend he now loves but feels is unobtainable, and the seductive party girl who, after years of rejecting him, has unexpectedly become very obtainable.

Along the way, the story touches on: love, friendship, betrayal, integrity, compromise racism, church fire bombings, the Ku Klux Klan, the Vietnam war, class differences, changing values, redneck honky-tonks plus other fun stuff.

Please check out as many of the twelve chapters as you can stand and let me know what you think and how it can be improved.

Here's the complete list of chapters:

I've just posted another chapter (eight) of my 'Dancing to Ray Charles' series. While that sort of news is common on this forum, this chapter contains racist language including the 'N' word. Some readers might find it offensive while others could feel it's a tough, uncomfortable read. I understand. Please believe me, it was a tough, uncomfortable write.

That said, any thoughts, whether brickbats or bouquets, will be appreciated.

If you haven't read any of the other chapters, it might be best if you first ease your way into that world with, chapter one

I am caught up on all the chapters. I'm hoping you get some more views. Comments and votes are lovely, but the views are the best. That means lots of those shy folks out there are tuning in to your work.

All I'm saying is you've never seen me crying and eating tacos at the same time.

Larry, so far all the chapters have had over a hundred views. The last chapter, Love on the Levee, is up to eighty views but only two votes. Just more proof that life can be cruel to the hard working and brilliant writer...and a total bitch to the rest of us. ;)
