Oh my ....

1. I always have a pair of scissors under my pillow just in case a burglar tries to come in.
2. I always lock my room door because I'm afraid a stranger might walk in on me.
3. I can't stand when my clothes in my cupboard is not arranged according to colour AND tone.
4. My shoes are arranged according to colour AND height.
5. If I see a spec of dust on my laptop, I ALWAYS give it a thorough cleaning which usually takes about 1 - 2 hours.
6. I always brush my teeth after EVERY meal AND drink because I have a fear of dentists and I don't want to give the evil dentists reason to pull out any of my teeth crybaby
7. Same with number 5, if I see dust or dirt on my Android phone, I'll have to clean it thoroughly for about an hour.

I'm pretty normal bunny

My dvds/cds/books have to be grouped alphabetical by theme (and size) Whistle

My spices are lined up by size d'oh!

My dogs' collars and tags have to compliment each other grommit

If I "dress" my dogs (I have two Poms) their collars and clothes have to work together and they have to compliment each other as well grommit

I tend to do the same things the same way every time icon_biggrin

The minute the clothes are done drying I take out fold/hang and put away confused5

If I am home alone I lock the door confused5

Wow... I never realized until I thought about it lol dontknow

This is definitely me!

My biggest one is that with all the meds and vitamins I am on, I put them in the little 'daily containers'. But they have to be put in a certain order, certain side up. If it doesn't look right, I start over.

Someone mentioned bed sheets...yup, corners tucked in (except the foot part of the blankets, that cannot be tucked in...EVER).

I hate clutter on my computer desktop...everything is nicely in folders and in alphabetical order.

When shopping, I have to put the items on the conveyor belt (if I'm not using the self service checkout) in a certain order and the "Next Customer" divider has to be completely straight.

I have several: when shopping (a slight expansion of what I've already said), items must be stacked in order of size (smallest to biggest), must be completely straight and square, the next customer sign must be straight and I must be able to see the items at all times. Before sleeping: I must have a browse on the internet beforehand, using my phone, even if I've been using my computer to browse, in fact, I'm doing that right now. Making tea: cups must be in the correct order. Saving a word document or video game: this must be done a few times before exiting the program or switching the computer/console off. I have more, but too many to mention. If I sound crazy, I am. Wouldn't have it any other way :)

oooh I have a weird shopping one...I have to group wet items together and dry items together on the conveyer belt so I can pack them together.

I also have a way of doing my washing. All our underwear gets grouped together, all our shirts..if they go on the clothes horse mixed it really freaks me out and I have to move them.

Fascinating thread. All these 'quirks' give a good list of mannerisms to humanize characters in our stories.

Way back when, Dirty Martini mentioned, CDO, was a super-charged version of OCD because it was alphabitized. Guess I suffer from, DCO, the absolute opposite of OCD, cause I join Rascal in being a self-proclaimed slob.

That makes sense actually...I pack all the perishable items together, so I can just carry those bags over to the refrigerator when I get home...the other stuff gets put by the shelves...makes perfect sense to me...

Speaking of laundry stuff...I used to go out with a girl who would fold her clothes before putting them in the dryer...she insisted they came out less wrinkled later...I just don't know...dontknow

Oh no, you're completely crazy, it's just that you blend in so well with all the other crazy folk here that you seem normal. Well, let's face it, normal is relative.

True that...at least I haven't got to the 'crack avoiding on sidewalks/pavements' stage. I love this thread.

I'm at that stage. I always was and never actually grew out of it. Also, I have to walk on the proper side of the pavement, depending on which road I'm walking down and what time of day it is.

Oh, this is one of my sister's hangups too. When we went to visit our mother a few days ago, every single picture on the wall was off kilter. She went and straightened them all, and made me stand across the room and tell her when they were perfectly aligned.

My worst OCD happens at work, where the other people will ALWAYS go against it. I like to do things from start to finish, step by step. If anyone helps me and messes up my order, I see red!! Off duty I have learned that things go as they will. I can't worry about that...well, too much. Whistle

I have another one: Whenever I see people misuse ellipsis (using too many dots, instead of the customary three) or etc (misspelling it 'ect'), I have to correct them. I'm not sure I could say I was a grammar Nazi, but it does annoy me when people misuse those two especially and even more so when I see an ex-classmate doing it. It really does do my head in because we went to the same school, were taught the same way and yet they just don't seem to care.

I also babble quite a bit, especially in writing. Sorry about that.

My biggest OCD has to be putting my stuff in the freezer and fridge according to size.
My book shelves are the same way.

My OCD is weird. You know that peg game they have on the table of cracker barrel (if you don't know, don't worry about it) well anyways I always have to make it symmetrical or I go crazy! Is that weird or what?

Because I can,
because I want to,
And because who are you to tell me otherwise?

This is slightly off topic...so sue me, already.

Just finished "Matchstick Men" by Eric Garcia. The protag is a middle-aged con artist bedeviled with OCD. BTW,, this is the first novel I've come across where the chapters a numbered in reverse order, going from 10 to 0.

You may now return to your regular posting. ;)

So, in other words, after you finish reading the book you're at the beginning?

I have a few... One of them is which way the toilet roll rolls. It HAS to roll from the top. I will change it round in others peoples houses as well. I have a friend who makes a point of visiting all 4 toilets in my house and turning the toilet rolls to roll from the bottom, just to annoy me.
Another OCD of mine is my kitchen cupboards. All storage containers must be in straight lines with their lables showing. Tins are stacked according to their contents and brand. Mugs and cups must have their handles all at the exact same angle... Same said friend likes to mess with my lines!!
My closet is arranged by colour and each colour grouping is arranged by shade....
