Once upon a time, there was an option in Story Settings, to only allow votes from active, signed in members. That has helped to cut down on trolls. It is an option I chose.

My stories still require a person to be a signed in member, but the option to set it up or disable it seems to have disappeared from the settings page in member details.

This could be inconvenient for some people, any way of finding out what's up with this?

Thank you

That’s odd. The setting seems to have disappeared.

It still is active for your stories, however; I tried voting on one of your stories while logged out and received a message that I had to be logged in to do that.

dontknow

In this same vein, I have opted for the setting which disallows scoring without comments and yet I have some stories with a higher vote count than comments. How is this possible?

Perhaps some members deleted their comments, but if there’s a large discrepancy between the number of votes and the number of comments we’ll have to look into it.

I made an assumption that moderators and management could read without commenting or scoring. Is that not true?

Anyone can read without commenting or scoring. The setting in question simply forces you to make a comment if you score, ie. you can read without scoring or commenting, but if you score, you have to comment.

Featured Story:
Night of the Wind - (Fantasy) A mysterious traveller, a strange storm, a chaotic night for a small town.

Other works:
Spooky People - (Poetry) A playful verse for Hallowe'en.
On Seeing the Light (Re)born - (Poetry) A reflection on seeing the sun rise while on vacation
Voice of Ice - (Horror) A powerful winter storm leads a professor to a disturbing discovery

Yes it is true but I'm not sure what you are asking? Anyone can simply read without commenting or scoring, either a signed in member or a reading only non-member.

There is a setting whereby if someone leaves a score, it will only register if it is accompanied by a comment. This is what Anna has set but she is seeing a discrepency between number of scores and comments.

Does that help?

I can't find a way around putting in the comment and I am a facilitator. Perhaps Maggie is right and it's due to deletions?? However, that should only create a small discrepancy.

Sorry, brain not working today. Thanks for the courtesy of a respectful reply. Back to bed for me. I'll wake tomorrow with a working brain...hopefully.

This is the chapter with the biggest anomaly.
https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/drama/the-nurses-chapter-11.aspx#

It isn't as problem now as it was a long time ago but I know that one of the commenters never scores so it is fair to assume that the two 2s and two 3s were likely troll scores for some unknown reason. dontknow

The 2's and 3's aren't there now and the ones I had on some of my stories have gone too icon_smile Has there been a troll vote purge?

Yes, Maggie has been taking a look. Thank you, Maggie.
It is odd though. She informed me that my four anonymous troll votes consisted of two from Moldova and two from Germany. I find this quite fascinating when one considers the content of that particular chapter... kekekegay
