I owned this paperback many many years ago. It's frighteningly accurate if you know the title story of the collection.

Panther's UK paperbacks of American fantasy writer Clark Ashton Smith had incredible covers. Still have them on my book shelf three decades after I collected them from various used bookshops.

That was the second copy of War of the Worlds that I owned. The first, that I read when I was about 12, was this one:  Still ranks as one of my top 10 novels of all time.
