As a Minister of Atheism I wish to light candles for those unbelievers who have courageously declared their doubts and will surely lose their lives for speaking truth to power.

Going tomorrow (10 Jan., '16) to a memorial service for a niece (early 40's) who had a "diabetic related event" Christmas Eve ... passed away a few days after Christmas. Good kid!!

Lemmy, who was buried yesterday. The world has lost its most unique bassist and one of the biggest gentlemen ever to have existed.

I think I'll light a candle for David Bowie.

I light two candles today. One for Alistair who never got to gaze into his mother's eyes and one for his mother who loves and misses him so very much.

I'm lighting a candle for all the children whose lives were ruined or cut short by violence, neglect or abuse.

If life seems jolly rotten
there's something you've forgotten
and that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing

For Tom... fly high my amazing friend, though no doubt you are already making the most of your next adventure... rocking with Bowie, dressing up with Prince and sharing a smoke with Marley.
You'll take the heavens by storm and love every minute of it!

For My grandmother... A truly remarkable woman, with an MBE from the Queen to prove it. She taught me so much about life but failed at her attempt to turn me into a proper Lady. 6 years without her feels like a lifetime. I miss you. xxx

Me included and a big candle for the 39 victims of the Genoa bridge collapse which, on the face of it, appears to have been caused by negligence.

For all those Mums who have gone before.
Mine, Sara's, Elisa's and all others.
May we remember them with joy in our hearts.

To two of my friends who lived in the streets without telling me (how could they?) and they froze to death one very cold New Years Day behind a dumpster.

I will light candles for all the patients in hospitals fighting battles of their own, just like my dad who is battling Alzheimers ....

For my mother. She died a few years ago. I wish I could remember her face.

You can't get there from here, because when you get there you're still here and here is now there.

Monday was the anniversary of my father’s murder so many years ago.

Many of us experienced loss last year. From Verbs pop and my mom, to Rump’s wife and Sprite’s brother, a friend’s son’s suicide, and Gill and Tonya’s devastating year of many loved ones lost.

I read this post in the Coffee House thread. It made me think of my mum and this thread.

So here I am to light a candle for our SS family who have lost loved ones. 😃♥

I light a candle for a friend's husband who, after fighting so hard to defeat cancer and was finally making inroads, suddenly collapsed and died of a heart attack last week.
