Story settings, an anomaly

Once upon a time, there was an option in Story Settings, to only allow votes from active, signed in members. That has helped to cut down on trolls. It is an option I chose.

My stories still require a person to be a signed in member, but the option to set it up or disable it seems to have disappeared from the settings page in member details.

This could be inconvenient for some people, any way of finding out what's up with this?

Thank you

In this same vein, I have opted for the setting which disallows scoring without comments and yet I have some stories with a higher vote count than comments. How is this possible?

If anyone wishes to find the beginning of this epic saga, here it is:

However, since this story is now available in paperback, only the first few chapters remain. Buy at:

I made an assumption that moderators and management could read without commenting or scoring. Is that not true?

Anyone can read without commenting or scoring. The setting in question simply forces you to make a comment if you score, ie. you can read without scoring or commenting, but if you score, you have to comment.

Yes it is true but I'm not sure what you are asking? Anyone can simply read without commenting or scoring, either a signed in member or a reading only non-member.

There is a setting whereby if someone leaves a score, it will only register if it is accompanied by a comment. This is what Anna has set but she is seeing a discrepency between number of scores and comments.

Does that help?

I can't find a way around putting in the comment and I am a facilitator. Perhaps Maggie is right and it's due to deletions?? However, that should only create a small discrepancy.

This is the chapter with the biggest anomaly.

It isn't as problem now as it was a long time ago but I know that one of the commenters never scores so it is fair to assume that the two 2s and two 3s were likely troll scores for some unknown reason.

The 2's and 3's aren't there now and the ones I had on some of my stories have gone too Has there been a troll vote purge?

Yes, Maggie has been taking a look. Thank you, Maggie.
It is odd though. She informed me that my four anonymous troll votes consisted of two from Moldova and two from Germany. I find this quite fascinating when one considers the content of that particular chapter...
